Dr India Amos

(India/her)

Counselling Psychologist

D.Couns.Psych, MPhil, BA (Hons)

India offers psychological therapy to adults seeking individual therapy, and relationship therapy, including gender, sexuality, and relationship diverse (GSRD) therapy.

Sessions are offered face-to-face at her therapy practice in Chorlton, South Manchester or online via video call.

First and foremost, India believes that emotional pain is understandable. India seeks to engage in a warm and empathic manner that supports the development of a therapeutic relationship. A relationship in which clients can share their personal story, and India can listen, seek understanding, and support the process of the client making sense of these experiences. Knowledge and understanding of psychological research evidence, and use of evidence-based interventions means that India seeks to facilitate a collaborative therapeutic process, working flexibly to suit the needs of the person.

India’s therapeutic approach tends to be integrative in style, informed by humanistic psychology and drawing on other modalities including Compassion-Focused therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). India also takes a systemic and intersectional perspective as a psychologist.

As well as being interested in each person as a unique individual, India also believes it is essential to pay attention to the systems within which we live. India understands that our intersecting race, class, gender, sexuality, ability and disability, religion, and other structural identities affect us as individuals and in our relationships with others.
